BEATRIX*JAR
Welcome to the New Era of Beatrix*Jar!
Formed in 2003 by Bianca Janine Pettis and Jacob Aaron Roske, Beatrix*Jar is a pioneering creative duo that pushes the boundaries of art and life through playful exploration. Their innovative work spans video art, interactive performances, music production, and visual storytelling, inviting audiences to laugh, play, and experience art in dynamic ways.
Our collaboration started with experimental sound art and circuit bending inspired by the Fluxus Movement John Cage, Punk, Jazz Improv, and Play. We've been featured at the Andy Warhol Museum, the Walker Art Center, and the Hammer Museum. We've also received an Archibald Bush Artist Fellowship and a Hearst Foundation Grant.
Over time, we've expanded our creative process to include everything we love: visual art, video art, and performance, from printmaking to painting murals and set design to creating a video series called The Beatrix*Jar Show.
It's late 2024, and we’ve added a new dimension to our work: resilience. Informed by our journeys with Hydrocephalus, Neurodivergence, and Caregiving, we've learned our art is not just play; it's our medicine, giving us the strength to adapt, grow, and survive life's incredible challenges.
Through interactive installations, live performances, and digital experiments, we invite you to join us in creating a space that celebrates the beauty of the struggle and the play.
Let's create. Let's connect. Let's play!
